Trauma Therapy that Fits Your Life

A Holistic Approach to Trauma Recovery

Trauma can leave lasting imprints on the mind and body, affecting how we think, feel, and engage with the world around us. Whether the trauma stems from a single distressing event or ongoing experiences, its impact can disrupt daily life, relationships, emotional well-being, and sense of identity. Many clients hesitate to confront their trauma, fearing the process may feel overwhelming or disrupt their ability to manage daily life. My approach to trauma therapy focuses on equipping you with effective regulation tools and strategies, empowering you to process distressing memories while maintaining confidence in your daily functioning.

Combining EMDR and Art Therapy creates a powerful, holistic approach to trauma healing. While EMDR works on reprocessing traumatic memories at a neurological level, Art Therapy fosters emotional expression and integration. Together, these modalities help clients reclaim their sense of safety, identity, and empowerment.

If you're ready to begin your healing journey, I offer a compassionate space for transformation. Contact me today to learn how EMDR and Art Therapy can support your path toward resilience and well-being.

Trauma Therapy FAQs

What is trauma therapy?

Trauma therapy is a specialized approach to help you safely process and heal from distressing or overwhelming experiences that have left an imprint on your mind and body. In my practice, trauma therapy often includes EMDR, art therapy, narrative therapy, and somatic awareness to help you gently reprocess and desensitize those distressing memories.

How do I know if I’ve experienced trauma?

Trauma isn’t defined only by what happened but by how your body and mind experienced it. You may have trauma if you feel on edge, numb, disconnected, easily triggered, or find yourself replaying memories that feel unresolved. I typically define trauma as anything that overwhelmed your capacity to cope.

What does a trauma therapy session look like?

Each session is tailored to your needs and comfort level. We may use talk therapy, art therapy, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), or somatic grounding techniques to help you reconnect to safety in your body and emotions. You’re always in control of the session. We’ll move slowly, with deep respect for your nervous system and readiness.

Do I have to talk about my trauma in detail?

No. You never have to share details you’re not ready to discuss. Trauma therapy can be effective without recounting every moment of what happened. My approach focuses on helping your body and mind release what’s been held inside so you can feel more peace and freedom in your present life.

What is EMDR, and how can it help with trauma?

EMDR helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel as distressing or “frozen.” Using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound), EMDR supports the natural healing process of the brain. Over time, the painful memory becomes integrated rather than triggering, and clients often describe feeling calmer, lighter, and more in control.

How do I start?

You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals and ask questions about therapy. From there, we’ll decide together if this feels like the right fit and begin with a 75-minute intake session to better understand your story and needs.
